Description
Lead head eel jigs were created during the 50’s and have been used along the Northeast Coast for decades in boulder fields, jetties & inlets by serious fishermen seeking to catch Striped Bass.
Long before plastic eel imitations were invented, sharpies used these lead heads to create a superior method to fish without live eels which could easily escape from their bag and ruin a night’s hunting adventure. It was coveted knowledge, secretly shared among members of elite fishing clubs.
These jigs took time to craft with a skill that had become a lost art as time passed and more fishermen began to rely on plastics.
The lead heads are available in sizes from 1, 1.5, 2 & 3 ounces with 8/0 hooks and custom made for our shop exclusively by S & S Bucktails. All of Cow Harbor’s products are vacuum sealed for extended storage & prepared using our “Secret Brine” method to be cast for long nights.
